XRP Ledger EVM Sidechain Progress
RippleX, in collaboration with blockchain firm Peersyst, has made significant strides in developing the XRP Ledger EVM sidechain. As 2024 approaches, the much-anticipated launch of this innovative sidechain is drawing nearer. The RippleX team has released the XChainBridge public amendment, a crucial step towards the sidechain's launch. Currently, validators have contributed 7 out of the 28 needed votes.
Enhancements and Audits
Peersyst reports notable advancements in the sidechain's development. Following an audit by Bishop Fox, a second audit has been completed, with details forthcoming. Recent upgrades include a blockchain update using the Cosmos SDK. Validators will soon vote on this upgrade, which integrates Cosmos version 0.47 and Ethereum's EIP3855.
Bridging and Connectivity
A key feature under development is a new bridge version, enabling seamless token bridging from the EVM sidechain to the XRP Ledger. This functionality allows the EVM sidechain to act as a gateway, facilitating transactions and leveraging XRP Ledger Mainnet features. A revamped user interface enhances usability, supporting dynamic bridging across sidechains, wallets, and tokens. Additionally, a bridge SDK assists developers in creating applications that integrate both networks.
Explorer and Developer Tools
The latest Blockscout Explorer version is underway, promising improved user experience and new features for smart contract verification and execution. The explorer will also provide a dynamic display of decentralized applications (dApps).
Upcoming Features
XRP Ledger developers recently unveiled rippled 2.0, featuring XLS-38 Cross-Chain Bridge and XLS-40 Decentralized Identity. The Cross-Chain Bridge will facilitate seamless movement of XRP and tokens between the XRPL Mainnet, sidechains, and the future EVM sidechain, enhancing interoperability and expanding blockchain capabilities.
