The Pipe Foundation has launched PipeQuest, a multi-season incentive program designed to accelerate the growth and adoption of the Pipe Network, the first decentralized content delivery network (CDN) built on Solana. Announced at Token2049 Dubai, PipeQuest aims to reward node operators, community contributors, and early adopters for their participation in the network's testnet ahead of its mainnet launch this summer.
Key Features of the Pipe Network
- Decentralized Architecture: Pipe Network uses a fleet of Point of Presence (PoP) nodes that can be deployed by anyone, from ISPs to web3 companies, reducing latency and increasing bandwidth.
- Permissionless Model: Virtually any device can be turned into a PoP node using Linux-based software, eliminating restrictive contracts and entry barriers.
- Scalability: The network is designed to be self-sustaining, with users rewarded for active participation, making it ideal for real-time applications like video streaming and high-frequency trading.
PipeQuest Program Details
PipeQuest is structured into three seasons, each focusing on different aspects of ecosystem growth:
Season 1 – PoP Node Performance
- Objective: Benchmark node performance based on uptime, round-trip time (RTT), and cache efficacy.
- Incentives: Top performers earn points multipliers and badges, with the top 1% receiving a 2x points multiplier and the "Edge Captain" badge.
Season 2 – Community Engagement
- Objective: Grow awareness and education around decentralized CDNs.
- Incentives: Rewards for creating content, completing quizzes, and engaging in community activities, such as memes and referral campaigns.
Season 3 – Demand Generation
- Objective: Drive real-world traffic and test partner integrations.
- Incentives: Mystery boxes awarded for uploading data, with bonuses for higher contributions (e.g., 1TB+ data uploads).
Recent Milestones
Since its private devnet launch in January, Pipe Network has achieved:
- 200,000 PoP nodes onboarded
- 250+ TB of cumulative storage
- 30% reduction in initialization times for Solana validators
Team and Vision
The Pipe Network is developed by Permissionless Labs, a team of former AWS engineers who built Amazon Elemental Cloud, which serves major clients like Netflix and Comcast. Their expertise positions Pipe Network to disrupt the traditional CDN market with blockchain technology.
How to Participate
Node operators, developers, and community members can join the testnet and participate in PipeQuest starting May 5th, 2025. Points earned during the program will determine rewards and roles in the mainnet launch.
