Meta, the social networking giant, has announced a collaboration with a Taiwan-based LGBT advocacy organization to launch a series of charity NFTs. The initiative, titled "Pride@NFTea," will feature 304 unique NFTs showcasing illustrations of bubble tea, a cultural symbol of Taiwan. The minting process will begin on October 29, with each NFT priced at 0.05 ETH (approximately $75). Proceeds from the sale will support the advocacy group's non-profit operations.

Celebrating Taiwan's LGBT Milestones

Taiwan made history in May 2019 by becoming the first country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage. This partnership underscores Meta's commitment to diversity and inclusion, aligning with the spirit of Taiwan Pride Day. The NFT project not only promotes LGBT rights but also highlights the potential of blockchain technology in supporting social causes.

Other LGBT-Focused NFT Projects Gain Traction

In July, Taiwanese singer-actress Annie Yi and her son, Harrison Yu, launched "Theirsverse," an NFT project aimed at fostering an LGBTQ community in the Web3 space. The project, which sold out 5,500 NFTs in just three hours, provides a platform for young artists from diverse backgrounds to promote equality and inclusion.

Legal and Community Developments in the NFT Space

In a significant legal ruling, the High Court of Singapore recently recognized NFTs as a form of property, further legitimizing their role in the digital economy. Additionally, the Lady Ape Club (LAC), a female-focused counterpart to the Bored Ape Yacht Club, announced an NFT airdrop based on an STRMNFT snapshot taken on October 15.

This collaboration between Meta and the Taiwan LGBT group marks a creative fusion of technology, culture, and social advocacy, setting a precedent for future charitable initiatives in the blockchain space.
