Decentraland Launches Worlds Beta: A New Era in the Metaverse

Introducing Decentraland Worlds

The Decentraland Foundation has unveiled a groundbreaking feature known as "Worlds." This beta feature allows users to create personal spaces in the metaverse, mapped to Decentraland NAMEs. Unlike before, users no longer need to own LAND to host events, significantly lowering the barrier for creators.

Set Up Your Space

To access Worlds, users must own NAME NFTs, which cost around 100 MANA or approximately $30. These NFTs are integral to Decentraland's infrastructure and can be acquired from the marketplace. Each World can span up to four parcels, equivalent to 16x16 meters each, and accommodate up to 100 users with a data limit of 100 MB. As the feature is still in beta, future updates may increase these limitations and offer hosting on personal servers.

Creative Freedom and Access

Decentraland promises users extensive creative freedom to design their Worlds. Users can customize parcel layouts and control visitor access through Decentraland's SDK. This allows for restrictions based on ownership of specific NFTs or other criteria, ensuring a tailored experience.

How to Enter Worlds

Users can enter Worlds through unique URLs or in-world chat commands. By using play.decentraland.org/world/NAME in a browser or specific commands in Decentraland's chat box, users can explore these new spaces with ease. To activate their World, users must deploy a scene using the SDK command line tool.
