CME Group and CF Benchmarks Expand Cryptocurrency Benchmark Suite

CME Group, the world's leading derivatives marketplace, and CF Benchmarks, a premier provider of cryptocurrency benchmark indices, have announced the launch of four new cryptocurrency reference rates and real-time indices for Arbitrum, Ondo, NEAR, and Sui. These benchmarks aim to deliver transparent and reliable pricing data to institutional investors, enabling more accurate portfolio valuations and the creation of structured financial products.

Enhanced Market Coverage and Methodology

The new benchmarks will cover over 96% of the investible cryptocurrency market capitalization, further solidifying CME CF Benchmarks as a trusted source for institutional-grade data. These reference rates and indices will utilize pricing data from at least two of the eight constituent exchanges, including Bitstamp, Coinbase, Gemini, and Kraken, ensuring robust and representative market insights.

Institutional-Grade Benchmarks for Emerging Assets

The addition of Arbitrum, Ondo, NEAR, and Sui to the CME CF Single Asset Series reflects the growing institutionalization of digital assets. These new benchmarks will employ the same rigorous methodologies as the Bitcoin Reference Rate (BRR) and Bitcoin Real-Time Index (BRTI), which underpin over $100 billion in regulated crypto financial products.

Real-Time and Daily Pricing Data

Each reference rate will provide the U.S. dollar price of the respective digital asset, published daily at 4 p.m. London time. Real-time indices will update every second, 24/7, offering market participants unparalleled data accuracy and timeliness. Additionally, Ondo and Sui reference rates will also be published at 4 p.m. New York time, catering to U.S.-based investors.
